Located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this landmark commercial office building is a key landmark in the city's central business district. With its tropical rainforest climate - year-round high temperatures (27–32°C) and humidity often exceeding 80% - the air conditioning system must operate at high load 24/7 throughout the year, typically accounting for 50%–60% of the building's total energy consumption. This places exceptionally high demands on cooling efficiency, long-term operational stability, and energy-saving economics.
The project adopts Hisense magnetic bearing centrifugal chillers with a total cooling capacity of 1,695RT (approximately 5,960kW). Featuring oil-free operation technology, the magnetic bearing chillers eliminate mechanical friction losses and deliver outstanding full-load and part-load efficiency - particularly suited for year-round cooling in tropical climates. The units offer 10%–100% wide-capacity modulation, automatically adjusting output based on actual building load to deliver on-demand cooling and precise temperature control. The oil-free design also significantly reduces long-term maintenance costs and prevents the performance degradation commonly seen in traditional oil-lubricated systems.
Since commissioning, the system has been operating stably, significantly reducing the building's annual HVAC energy consumption while providing a comfortable and reliable office environment for tenants - serving as a benchmark case for Hisense in the Southeast Asian commercial building sector.
