A Class-A Financial Data Center in Hangzhou

--Dual Cold Source (2N) Redundancy Architecture · Total Cooling Capacity: 5,240kW

info-269-328

This financial data center adopts a dual cold source (2N) redundancy architecture for its air conditioning system. In alignment with the building plan, two fully independent cooling source systems are deployed - an electric-driven water-cooled chiller system and an electric-driven air-cooled chiller system - ensuring that either system can independently carry the full load during maintenance of the other, meeting the high availability requirements of financial-grade facilities.

The chilled water system features a dual-supply and dual-return configuration. The water-cooled chiller system adopts a ring-loop main piping network to maximize online maintainability, while the air-cooled chiller system employs a branch-type piping structure for simplicity and reliability.

Water-Cooled System:
Equipped with 2 variable frequency centrifugal chillers, each with a cooling capacity of 2,637kW (750RT), delivering a total of 5,274kW (1,500RT). The chiller supply/return water temperature is 15/21°C, and the condenser water supply/return temperature is 33/38°C. Three cooling towers are deployed in Phase I, one of which also serves the office area's summer air conditioning heat rejection demand.

Air-Cooled System:
Installed on the rooftop, featuring 4 variable frequency screw air-cooled chillers, each with a cooling capacity of 1,310kW (375RT), delivering a total of 5,240kW (1,500RT). The supply/return water temperature is 15/21°C. Although serving as a backup system, the units are required to start and operate reliably even at Hangzhou's extreme low temperature of -8.6°C. The air-cooled chillers are selected based on Hangzhou's historical maximum temperature of 40°C for summer operating conditions.

The dual cold source systems are physically isolated and fully redundant. The terminal air conditioning units are dual-coil chilled water type, connected to both water systems without mutual interference. This architecture enables online maintenance of a single system while ensuring uninterrupted operation - providing a solid foundation for the data center's year-round continuous reliability.

The system was commissioned in March 2025 and has been operating smoothly and stably since then.
