Introduction To The Cooler

Jun 01, 2026 Leave a message

A cooler is a type of heat exchanger used to cool fluids. Water or air is typically used as the coolant to remove heat. Types include indirect-flow coolers, spray coolers, jacketed coolers, and coil coolers. They are widely used as cooling and protection devices for high-power silicon rectifiers, induction furnaces, and medium-frequency furnaces, serving as auxiliary cooling systems for pure water, water-air, oil-water, and oil-air applications.

The main focus of this study is on indirect-flow, mixed-flow, and regenerative heat exchangers. The working principles, heat transfer calculations, structural calculations, flow resistance calculations, and design procedures for coolers are all covered in detail with numerous illustrations and examples in the book on heat exchangers.
